Title inspiration ; 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' has always been one of my favourite parables and epic poems. All elements contained herein are actual astronomical phenoma, ranging from the aptly named Omega Centauri which forms the metal eagle's eye, the colliding galaxies and 'The Great Dark Spot' in Neptune from which is the crux of the piece.
